Bibliography:
Gunnar Örn Gunnarsson was born in Iceland in 1946. He is a self taught artist,
but is one of Iceland's most successful artists both on national and international level.Solo exhibitions:
Since his first solo exhibition in 1970, he has had a total of 40, most on national level
in Iceland, but also internationally in Copenhagen, Denmark; Gallery Stalke 1997 and 2000
and Gallery Helliggejst in 1973 and 1975. He has exhibited twice in New York, USA at
the Achim Moeller Fin Art Gallery in 1985 and 1989, and has had two solo exhibitions in
the Icelandic Gallery in the Haag, the Netherlands.
Group exhibitions:
A part from participating in many group exhibitions in Iceland, Gunnar Orn has been
presented in group exhibitions throughout Europe, in America (New York and Chicago), in
Brazil (Sao Paulo) and at the Scandinavian art exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. Gunnar
Örns work represented Iceland at the Venice Biennial Exhibition in 1988.
Represented:
A part from many privet collection, Gunnar Örn is represented in various museums in
Iceland including the National Gallery of Iceland in Reykjavik.
His work is also represented at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Seibu Museum in
Tokyo and at the Moderna Museet and National Gallery of Sweden in Stockholm.
